Walk to School - Forestdale

Safe Routes To School is a free, federally funded program administered by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation that works to increase safe walking, biking, and rolling among public elementary, middle, and high school students. This is a collaborative, community-focused approach that bridges the gap between health and transportation.

As part of this initiative by MassDOT the Sandwich Recreation Department has partnered with the Forestdale Elementary School, Sandwich Police Department , and the Sandwich Fire Department to offer a walk, ride, or roll to school day.

When: On Monday October 27th at 8:15AM
Who: Students that attend the Forestdale School & an adult
Where: Oak Crest Cove (34 Quaker Meetinghouse Rd) in the lower beach parking lot.
What: We will then then walk, ride, or roll to the Forestdale School where we will be met by school administration.
FREE- no registration or fee's required.

All participants will receive a prize for joining us.

Please note:
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • For the safety of our participants and our pets- NO PETS ALLOWED- please leave your furry family members at home. 


We will have a rain date of October 29th.
