The Singing Sailors
ALL NEW!!  This program will bring music to your ears, a smile to your face, and opportunity to some amazing performers!  This program is being offered through the collaboration of Sandwich Sailors founder Rick Serodio and the Sandwich Recreation Department and will be lead by the amazing singer, songwriter and recording artist - *Dawna Hammers along with Sandwich Recreation's own talented **Grace Chamberlin. This program will provide individuals of all ages and varying developmental and intellectual abilities to socialize while learning about singing, dancing  and experiencing music firsthand through rehearsals and performances and community outreach events each year.

WHO: Ages 10 + up    *** All levels and abilities welcome-
WHEN: Saturday's starting March 12th through May 14th
            3:00-5:00 PM
WHERE: Oak Crest Cove Lodge- 34 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, Forestdale
COST: FREE

*Dawna Hammers is a talented, experienced & versatile songwriter, performer & music teacher. She has been teaching music to pre-school & elementary age kids as well as private voice, piano, recorder & hand drumming lessons to people of all ages and abilities in both MA & VT for the past 35 years. Dawna is also a professional caregiver, entertainer and music therapist for elders with dementia & Alzheimer’s disease. She therefore has amazing skill at connecting with and helping people move, express themselves and feel the healing power & joy of music. 

**Grace Chamberlin has over a decade of experience as a singer/songwriter and pianist. After singing in choirs since early childhood, Grace went on to study music at Pioneer Valley Performing Arts School where she was a member of Spectrum A Cappella and performed from Boston to NYC. Today, she enjoys singing at open mics, as well as with her church choir. It was also her joy to be the music leader at Vacation Bible School this past summer at First Church Sandwich. Grace is excited to share the joy of music with The Singing Sailors this spring!

To ensure that all our performers are confident and prepared for our final performance' we ask that each performer make the commitment to attending each rehearsal. 

The Sandwich Recreation Department is working closely with the Board of Health and following the latest COVID information released by the State of Massachusetts. We will continue to monitor the town of Sandwich case numbers while implementing all guidelines put forth by the state- Therefore, we reserve the right to discontinue any program at any time should the town or state feel it is in the best interest of the health and safety of our community.  We encourage you to contact the Recreation Department directly with any questions or concerns that you may have. Mask will be required when social distancing can't be achieved .
